ESPN Analyst Reveals NFL Draft’s 5 Best Picks

The NFL Draft is officially in the books, with many teams making extremely savvy decisions to improve their rosters throughout the weekend.

Arguably the most aggressive move of the draft came from the Jacksonville Jaguars who moved up from No. 5 to No. 2 to select Travis Hunter, who many considered to be the best prospect available overall.

But which players were the best overall picks?

On Wednesday during an appearance on NFL Live, ESPN analyst Matt Miller gave his best five picks of the entire weekend, with a surprise at No. 1.

5. Jalon Walker, EDGE/LB, Georgia

Jalon Walker to the Falcons is an easy choice here for Miller. The Falcons got an absolute steal at No. 15 with the Georgia edge rusher, who many believed would be a top 10 pick when it was all said and done. But when the Panthers went with Tetairoa McMillan, Walker’s market changed, and he fell into the Falcons’ lap.

4. Jihaad Campbell, EDGE/LB, Alabama

For the same reasons that Walker was a steal for the Falcons, Jihaad Campbell falling all the way to the Eagles at No. 31 might have been an even bigger surprise. Campbell is an elite linebacker with edge-rushing skills that was talked about in the top 15 range. Now the Eagles add him to an already elite defense at extremely high value for his draft position.

3. Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

If Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter were the top two overall prospects in the class running back Ashton Jeanty might have been No. 3. Miller believes Jeanty will be an absolute home run in the Raiders’ new offensive scheme under Chip Kelly and will take the NFL by storm in his rookie year.

2. Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

Will Johnson would have been a risky pick for the Cardinals in Round 1 due to his injury concerns. But at No. 47, Miller believes that Johnson is a major steal for the Cardinals, setting them up with a top corner for years to come with their Round 2 selection.

1. Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri

Coming in as a surprise pick for Miller at No. 1 on his list is Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden. Coming into the draft, McMillan, Hunter, Emeka Egbuka and Matthew Golden were all considered the top receivers in the class. However, Miller had him as a top 15 player and he is betting that NFL made a mistake that Burden fell all the way to the second round at pick 39 to the Bears, giving Caleb Williams another explosive weapon on the outside.
