Christiane Amanpour, the respected CNN anchor, is joining UK audio company Global to launch a number of original podcasts.
Amanpour will juggle the podcast work with her role as CNN’s chief international anchor, presenting shows including Amanpour, The Amanpour Hour, and Amanpour & Company.
Global was not specific about the podcast projects Amanpour will work on, but said more details on her first original show will be announced imminently.
The company’s highest-profile podcast is The News Agents, hosted by former BBC presenters Emily Maitlis, Jon Sopel, and Lewis Goodall.
Amanpour said: “In an age of disinformation and weaponised narratives, podcasting offers a powerful space to speak truth, hold power to account, and connect with listeners in a direct and meaningful way.”
James Rea, Global’s chief broadcasting and content officer, said: “Christiane Amanpour is the journalist every newsroom respects and every world leader listens to. She’s one of the most powerful voices in news, and her new podcasts will take listeners to the heart of the biggest issues on the planet.”
Global owns a raft of major UK radio stations, including LBC, Capital, Heart, and Classic FM. The company reaches 51M individuals across the UK every week, including 29.2M on radio.
