The Los Angeles Dodgers came into the season with as much starting pitching depth as any team in baseball. But after a few weeks of baseball, the Dodgers’ pitching rotation has been destroyed.

Blake Snell, Clayton Kershaw, Tony Gonsolin, Shohei Ohtani, and a few other top pitchers are healthy for the Dodgers right now. To make matters worse for LA, righty Tyler Glasnow landed on the injured list with a shoulder injury this week.

While the Dodgers had the deepest rotation in baseball coming into the season, that’s not the case anymore. With this in mind, the Dodgers could look to swing a blockbuster trade for a rental starting pitcher to help them down the stretch this season.

The perfect solution is Cincinnati Reds pitcher Nick Martinez.

Martinez is on a one-year deal worth $21 million. He’s a very consistent righty with solid command and a fiery attitude.

The Dodgers could ship away one of their top outfield prospects, like James Outman or Dalton Rushing, to secure Martinez. This addition would benefit the Dodgers quite a bit because once their rotation is healthy, Martinez could slide into the bullpen. He’s spent time in the bullpen with the Reds and was quite successful.

Martinez would hand manager Dave Roberts a pitcher who will consistently give the Dodgers a chance to win. The Dodgers’ pitching staff doesn’t always need to be perfect. Keeping the team in the game is more than enough with their high-powered offense.
