A Southern California man who was on probation and had an outstanding warrant was arrested after he intentionally rammed his vehicle into another car that had children inside it, authorities said.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 19000 block of Telegraph Road east of Santa Paula on April 24 at 9:48 p.m. on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon arriving at the scene, the deputies confirmed that the suspect, Geovanny Molina Portillo, intentionally used his vehicle to ram another vehicle containing two adults and two children.
“Molina Portillo…was on probation for domestic violence and had an active out-of-county warrant for his arrest,” VCSO said in a press release. “Furthermore, Molina Portillo was listed as the restrained party on a domestic violence restraining order and had robbed the listed protected party of her property.”
Molina Portillo fled the scene before law enforcement’s arrival, prompting a manhunt. He was eventually located the following evening inside a vehicle being driven by “an uninvolved party” in Santa Paula and taken into custody following an enforcement stop, deputies said.
The 26-year-old Santa Paula resident was arrested for robbery, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and disobeying a domestic court order, in addition to the out-of-county warrant.
He was transported to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Pre-Trial Detention Facility and booked. Inmate search records indicate he remained in custody on $250,000 bail Monday morning.
His next court date is set for Tuesday.
