Deadline on Monday launched the streaming site for Contenders Television: Documentary, Unscripted & Variety, its awards-season showcase that took place on Saturday.
A total of 15 documentary films, docuseries, variety, late-night and stand-up specials and competition series took part in the virtual event, spotlighting the creators and stars behind their buzzy shows.

The wide swath of panelists included Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson and for Prime Video’s Beast Games, Kelsea Ballerini for Warner Bros Television Group’s The Voice, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson for Onyx Collective and Hulu’s Sly Lives!, Ariana Madix for Peacock’s Love Island USA, Iliza Shlesinger for her Prime Video special Iliza Shlesinger: A Different Animal, Desi Lydic for Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, David Blaine for National Geographic’s David Blaine Do Not Attempt, and Mikey Day and Ego Nwodim for Saturday Night Live and Seth Meyers for Late Night with Seth Meyers both for NBC.
Also taking part were the creatives behind the documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, the docuseries The Fall of Diddy from ID, variety special The Eyes of the World: From D-Day to VE Day from American History Unbound, the competition series RuPaul’s Drag Race from MTV Entertainment Studios and Peacock’s The Traitors, and Universal Television Alternative Studio and NBC’s Tom Hanks-narrated nature series The Americas.

Contenders TV: Documentary, Unscripted & Variety follows in the awards-season calendar Deadline’s Contenders Television, a 27-show extravaganza that took place live April 5-6 in at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles. Next up: Sound & Screen Television, where the spotlight turns onto the composers of TV’s top shows. That is set for Wednesday, May 7 at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
