HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Temperatures will be on the rise this week as an upper-level ridge builds into the region. This ridge will support a nice warm-up along with a dry start to the week!
The ridge will support a strong south-southwest wind, allowing for warmer air and moisture to filter into the region.
The increase in warm air will support high temperatures slightly warmer than normal for this time of year. Highs are forecast to warm into the low to mid-80s. After some sunshine to start the week, the increase in moisture will support an increase in clouds.
While temperatures will be warm for this time of year, we aren’t forecast to see record-breaking temperatures at this point. If enough warm air surges in and temperatures can reach 90 degrees or higher in Huntsville, then we could see a record.
The increase in moisture will also support the chance for showers this week. Stray showers will be possible on Tuesday, with a higher chance for showers on Wednesday. By Thursday, a system moving through the region will bring a greater chance for widespread rain and isolated storms.
