After taking Game 2 on the road, confidence was rising in Detroit that the Pistons might sneak out a first-round upset over the New York Knicks.
But that confidence took a hit in Game 3 after Detroit fell 118-116 on its home court. Leading the way for the Knicks in the huge win was Jalen Brunson, who not only had 30 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists but also hit various tough shots in the fourth quarter to secure the pivotal road victory. Brunson showed just why he was named Clutch Player of the Year for 2024-25 with his Game 2 performance against Detroit.
Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns also had a massive performance in Game 3, going off for 31 points with eight rebounds as the Knicks took back home-court advantage in the series.
The Pistons’ backcourt played well despite the loss in Game 3, with former number one pick and blossoming superstar Cade Cunningham scoring 24 points, securing seven rebounds, and dishing out 11 assists. Aiding him was veteran 2-guard Tim Hardaway Jr., who also had 24 points, as well as Dennis Schroder, who had 18 points and five rebounds.
