On Saturday, the biggest rivalry in the soccer world will take to the pitch as Barcelona faces Real Madrid with a trophy on the line.
In soccer, it doesn’t get much bigger than Barcelona vs. Real Madrid, an enormous rivalry out of Spain pitting two of the most important clubs in the world against one another. And on Saturday, it takes place once again, except this time, with a trophy – the coveted Copa del Rey – on the line.
To get to this point in the Copa del Rey, Barcelona had to first get by another major Spanish team, Atletico Madrid, over two legs. The first leg, which took place in Madrid, ended 4-4, a high-scoring, back-and-forth affair in which neither defense covered itself in glory. Four different players scored for Barcelona in the matchup, including young starlet Pedri, an exceptional midfielder with enormous potential.

The second leg was far less dramatic, a simple 1-0 home victory for Barcelona to punch its ticket to the final today. Forward Ferran Torres scored in the 27th minute to secure the huge victory for La Blaugrana.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, defeated Real Sociedad over both legs of the Copa del Rey semifinals, first 1-0 on Feb. 26 behind a 19th-minute Endrick goal, and then 4-4 on April 1 in extra time, a matchup that saw Endrick score one again, along with English midfield star Jude Bellingham, to set up today’s El Clasico with a major trophy on the line.
