HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A fiery crash on Patton Road has left at least one person dead and another man injured in Huntsville on Friday.
HEMSI spokesperson Don Webster told News 19 that a vehicle hit a telephone pole on Patton Road near Drake Avenue around 4:15 a.m.
According to Webster, HEMSI units were responding to another emergency call when they drove up on the fiery crash on Patton Road. Webster says that HEMSI was the first to respond to the scene of the crash.
HEMSI told News 19 that the vehicle involved was engulfed in flames.
One male was transported to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Services and was then taken to the UAB Burn Center for further treatment. He remains in critical condition at this time.
According to Madison County Coroner Tyler Berryhill, one person has died on the scene of the crash. Their identity has not been released at this time.
The Huntsville Police Department Traffic Homicide Division also responded to the scene of the crash.
The Southbound traffic on Patton Road at Drake Avenue is currently being rerouted. Those needing to access Redstone Arsenal should anticipate road closures south of the intersection.
