Kristen Doute has seemingly confirmed rumors that Janet Caperna was a “fan” of Vanderpump Rules before she became tight with the cast.

In the Season 2 trailer for The Valley, the two women get into a heated fight, with Doute angrily telling Caperna, “You’re a fucking fan, bitch.” While Caperna previously said she met Scheana Shay at a pool party in 2017 and they bonded over their recent divorces, Doute’s comment only fueled the online rumors that Caperna allegedly moved to Los Angeles with intentions of infiltrating the Vanderpump Rules friend group.

When we sat down with Doute at DECIDER HQ, she said she regretted some of the things she said this season — but calling Caperna a fan was “not one of them.”

“I don’t think it’s any surprise to anyone, I’m pretty sure it’s out there on the net, that Janet was introduced to our friend group years and years ago as a fan of the show,” Doute said. “This is not to say that I don’t love and appreciate fans of our show. That is why we do what we do. For me, it was the Janet that I had been very close to pre-Season 1 is not the person that I saw when the cameras went up.”

Caperna made her reality TV debut in Season 1 of The Valley — and she was quickly labeled as the show’s villain.

It all started when Doute claimed Caperna told her and Jasmine Goode that Michelle Lally was a Republican and a racist, which Caperna vehemently denied while pushing the “crazy Kristen” narrative. The new mom — who later uninvited both Doute and Zack Wickham from her babymoon — has since been slammed as messy and manipulative by fans of the show.

Doute — who was unable to squash her beef with Caperna in The Valley’s Season 2 premiere — said she saw a “huge shift” in her longtime friend once production for the spinoff started.

“Now I’m seeing someone who is trying to be on reality TV,” Doute explained to DECIDER. “Especially during Season 1, I felt like I was seeing glimpses of like, ‘This is how Stassi Schroeder was on Season 1 of Vanderpump Rules,’ or, ‘This was like Lala Kent on Season 5 of Vanderpump Rules.’ So, that is what I meant by ‘effing fan.’”

The Valley airs Tuesday nights at 9/8c on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
