Camille Razat, who became the first original Emily In Paris cast member to leave the hit Netflix comedy series, has broken her silence on her departure after four seasons.

“After an incredible journey, I’ve made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris,” she wrote in a lengthy Instagram post next to fun behind-the-scenes photos with her co-stars. “It has been a truly wonderful experience, one filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories.”

Razat plays Camille who was originally the girlfriend of Emily’s (Lily Collins) crush Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and became Emily’s first friend in Paris when the American arrived in the city for her new job. After breakups, reconciliations, an engagement and false pregnancy with Gabriel, on- and off- friendship with Emily and a tumultuous romance with Sofia, Camille packed her bags and left Paris at the end of Season 4.

“This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end,” Razat wrote. “It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons.”

While she will no longer be a series regular, Razat indicated that she could reprise her role. She thanked Emily In Paris creator Darren Star, Netflix and series producer MTV Entertainment Studios “for their trust and for giving me the opportunity to bring Camille to life and leaving the door open for her return, as she will always be a part of Emily In Paris world.”

Asked by Deadline at the time of the Season 4 release in September whether Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) and Camille were both out of the picture, Star said, “Not necessarily. I mean people come and go out of people’s lives in shows for a period of time, but it doesn’t mean that they’re off the table.”

Laviscount has since returned to the series as a series regular alongside returning Emily In Paris original cast members. All sent messages of support under Razat’s farewell post.

“Love you sister,” Collins said. “It’s been a wild ride and an absolute pleasure. You’re a rockstar. So proud of you.”

Bravo also called Razat “my sister,” with Bruno Gouery, who plays Luc adding, “We’ll miss you.”

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau) echoed the sentiment, “You’ll be so missed ma chérie,” she wrote.

Added Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), “Love you so much, always proud of you,”

In a heartfelt message, Laviscount spoke about his experience working with Razat.

“From day one you’ve been my rider on this show,” he said. “Your passion for story telling, your dark sense of humour, your unwavering ability to stay true to yourself, when everything’s pushing you in a different direction. You’re special Camille and I feel absolutely honoured to of been able to dance with you these past seasons. Keep on shining. I’m going to miss laughing with you. I’m cheering you on in everything you do.”

In her post, Razat revealed that she had recently wrapped two upcoming French series, Nero for Netflix and The Lost Station Girls for Disney+, and announced that she has launched a production company that is developing its first feature film.

She concluded with a message to the Emily In Paris cast, crew and fans.

“I leave the show with nothing but love and admiration for the cast, crew, and fans who have supported us along the way,” she said. “Thank you for the beautiful ride.”

Production on Season 5 of Emily In Paris is set to begin in May — first in Rome and then in Paris — for a premiere later this year.
