The people have spoken – or Netflix has, at least.

Tyler Perry‘s sitcom for the streamer, She the People, will launch in two parts, the streamer announced today. An eight-episode part one tranche drops on May 22, with part two, also eight episodes, following on August 14.

The show stars Terri J. Vaughn as Lieutenant Governor candidate Antoinette Dunkerson, who runs a successful campaign and must then figure out how to thrive under a sexist and condescending governor and keep her family in line now that they’re in the public eye.

Jade Novah, Drew Olivia Tillman, Tré Boyd, Dyon Brooks and Jo Marie Payton also star.

Watch on Deadline

Perry is the writer, director and producer. He co-created the series with Niya Palmer, who is an exec producer alongside Keisha Lance Bottoms and Vaughn. Angi Bones and Tony Strickland also produce for Tyler Perry Studios.

Series was first announced in January as part of Perry’s Netflix slate for 2025. Also upcoming is Madea’s Destination Wedding, a feature film that follows 2022’s A Madea Homecoming, drama feature Straw and the faith-based feature R&B. Part 2 of drama series Beauty in Black‘s first season, premiered on March 6.

Here are some more first-look images for She the People.
