Well, we know that Simone Biles will be physically at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. What we don’t know is whether the undisputed GOAT of gymnastics will be there as a spectator or as a competitor, because Biles doesn’t know herself.

“Right now, I’m still focusing on healing physically and mentally because doing the Olympics, it kind of takes a toll on your body,” Biles told Olympics.com. “I haven’t got that much time because I’ve sacrificed so much to hang out with my family, my friends, my husband and stuff like that.” That’s why, at the moment, Biles said she’s trying to soak up all the rest she can before she makes a decision about the Olympics in three years. “I’m really enjoying my time off before I decide if I want to go back to the gym and compete,” she said. “A lot of people think it’s just a one-year commitment, but it truly is the four years leading up to the Olympics.”

That said, Biles also explained that she’s excited the games will be in LA. “But if I’m gonna compete again, I’m not so sure. But I will be at the Olympics—whether it’s on the floor or in the stands.”

Back in 2021, Simone Biles pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics after experiencing a condition called “the twisties,” in which a gymnast loses their sense of bodily orientation while mid-air, which can become extremely dangerous. Afterwards, Biles took a two-year hiatus from the sport, eventually returning for the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she became the most decorated U.S. gymnast in history.

“I’ve already done quite a lot, but I’m still trying to reach new heights and see what I’m capable of,” Biles told Glamour in a 2021 interview. The most important thing, she said at the time, was that she was doing the sport for herself, and that she was having fun doing it.
