The iconic Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition has arrived in Seoul, transforming Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) into an immersive journey through nearly 80 years of Dior’s creative legacy. Designed by OMA partner Shohei Shigematsu, this marks the fourth collaboration between Dior and the architecture firm, following acclaimed editions in Denver, Dallas and Tokyo.

Housed within DDP’s expansive, column-free Art Hall 1, the Seoul edition seamlessly blends Dior’s world with Korean cultural heritage. Rather than dividing the space into traditional galleries, the exhibition flows organically through thematic rooms anchored by ”The Garden.”

Inspired by the madang – a courtyard in traditional Korean hanok homes – “The Garden” features a monumental 12-meter-tall moon jar, symbolizing harmony and simplicity. Inside, a dreamlike projection dome and a hanji paper forest by Korean artist Hyun Joo Kim create a serene, futuristic sanctuary.

Each gallery reimagines Dior’s legacy through a Korean lens. The “Dior Legacy” room showcases a ribbon-like structure inspired by jogakbo patchwork, tracing the House’s creative directors. The “Lady Dior” room draws from red lacquerware cabinetry, transforming modular units into sculptural showcases of the iconic bag. Other highlights include the “30 Avenue Montaigne,” “The New Look,” “Miss Dior” and “Colorama” rooms.

Blending fashion, space and culture, Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams is now open to the public at Dongdaemun Design Plaza.
