Todd Snyder and New Balance have a rich collaborative history. Over the last several years, the duo has crafted joint 997 “Triborough,” 992 “From Away” and NB 57/40 “Stony Beach” models, among several others from seasons past. Now, the pair have reunited to introduce the 574 “Tokyo Prep” Pack, a muted lineup of Japan-inspired take on the footwear imprint’s signature footwear model.
As part of the new pack, the shoe has been reworked in two new colorways — “Shiro” and “Gure” — inspired by the “elegance of Tokyo.” The palette takes cues from the city’s natural beige and concrete grey hues, “reflecting its harmony between tradition and modernity,” per the brands.
From a design perspective, the shoe boasts an upper construction that melds crisp leather with textural suede, along with a furry iteration of New Balance’s “N” logo on the lateral side of the shoe. Below, the midsole is packed with EVA foam and ENCAP cushioning with additional support from a durable polyurethane rim.
