A Palm Desert man has been arrested after he allegedly recorded multiple boys as they used the restroom.

Joseph Seiders, 44, was identified as the man who recorded an 11-year-old boy on April 7 and other boys on April 9 at a business in the 73000 block of Dinah Shore Drive in Palm Desert, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

The boy on April 7 reported to deputies that a man had recorded him on a cell phone, and an employee of a business spotted that man again on April 9 “entering and exiting the restroom with juvenile males,” authorities said.

Jail records indicate the business is a Chick-fil-A.

Seiders was arrested on April 9, and “evidence was located implicating him in the two reported incidents, along with additional crimes, including possessing child pornography,” the Sheriff’s Department said.

Seiders is being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in lieu of $1 million bail, and he’s due to appear at the Indio Larson Justice Center on Tuesday.

He faces numerous charges, the Sheriff’s Department said, including:

  • possession of child pornography
  • annoying/molesting a child
  • invasion of privacy
  • attempted invasion of privacy

Jail records show additional charges of disorderly conduct for using a concealed camera and attempted use of a concealed camera.

Investigators believe there may be other victims. Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Iniguez at 760-836-1600 or dispatch at 951-776-1099.
