PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Montgomery man was arrested after a traffic stop in Priceville on Monday.
Officers with the Priceville Police Department pulled a vehicle over near the intersection of Point Mallard Parkway and Marsha Avenue around 9 p.m.
Police told News 19 that a K-9 Unit was deployed during the traffic stop.
While searching the vehicle, authorities found unprescribed medication, drug paraphernalia and a loaded firearm.
Upon further investigation, officers learned that Jamari Aikens, 24, of Montgomery, is a convicted felon on felony probation out of Tennessee.
PPD said that Aikens is not allowed to have a firearm.
Aikens was arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail.
He was charged with Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm, Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Due to Aiken’s criminal history, a Morgan County Circuit Judge placed a no bond hold pending a review of Aiken’s probationary status.
“We will take a zero tolerance approach when dealing with individuals illegally possessing firearms in the City of Priceville,” said Priceville Police Chief Jerry Holmes.
