EXCLUSIVE: We’ve come to learn that Anna Lore is starring in Scott Derrickson’s Black Phone 2, which will hit theaters on Oct. 17 via Universal.
Lore joins returning cast members Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora, as well as new additions Demián Bichir and Arianna Rivas in the Blumhouse film.
The sequel to the $161M-plus grossing global hit was written by Cargill and Derrickson, who are also producing the film with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum. Joe Hill is an EP. Universal and Blumhouse are producing with Crooked Highway Production.
In the original movie, a boy, after being abducted and locked in a basement, starts receiving calls on a disconnected phone in his basement cell from the killer’s previous victims. That killer is played by Blumhouse vet Hawke. Black Phone was a surprise counterprogramming hit in the summer of 2021 when moviegoers were making their way to back to cinemas after COVID.
