Dive into the world of Rick Owens with the all-new exhibit in Paris this summer. The American designer is curating a large-scale retrospective display of himself at the Palais Galliera this June.

The Rick Owens exhibition, titled “Temple of Love,” will feature 30 brutalist cement sculptures as well as a recreation of his California bedroom that he shares with his wife Michèle Lamy. As the artist director of his own exhibit, the presentation will truly be all about Rick, covering his life and career. Starting from the facade of the building and the garden where statues are to be wrapped in a sequins-embroidered fabric, the Rick Owens experience is described by the Palais Galliera team as “unprecedented” in scale and scope. The museum comments on the exhibition stating, “It is a meditation on love, beauty and diversity, presented in a monumental setting.”

Beyond the sequins-wrapped statues, the retrospective is expected to showcase over 100 fashion silhouettes as well as personal documents, videos, installations and works by Gustave Moreau, Joseph Beuys and Steven Parrino. The pieces shown will exhibit Rick Owens’ career beginnings as a pattern-cutter in Los Angeles before launching his eponymous label in 1994. The exhibit will show how he took inspiration from the 1930s glamor aesthetic and underground culture through a “wide range of references” from Joris-Karl Huysmans, contemporary art and early Hollywood films, including the biblical epics by Cecil B. DeMille.

The “Temple of Love” Rick Owens exhibit opens at Palais Galliera on June 28 and will run until January 4, 2026.
