Moment Mama German Shepherd ‘Comes to Terms’ with Parent Life Is Too Real

Parenting is tough, no matter your species. Babies are needy, no matter how many legs they have. Puppies, in particular, are incredibly needy. So much so that they stress us out in their forever homes, after spending 8 weeks stressing out their mamas.

One German Shepherd mama is certainly feeling the stress right now! She was hoping to have a chill nap with her puppy, but that pup had other plans:

Siarra’s Pack includes this mom, her puppy, and another white pup who, unfortunately, recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge. The bigger German Shepherd misses her brother dearly, but luckily, having this puppy around has helped her.

He keeps her plenty busy, and though they may look exactly alike, he’s actually a rescue! She loves him regardless and cares for him like he’s her own, even when it’s hard. He disrupts her naps and chews on her ears, but she loves him.

He’s currently in the “puppy ears” stage, and he spends a lot of his time looking like this:

He might be rambunctious and a little annoying at time: all puppies are. However, his new “mama” appreciates him for who he is, even when it interferes with her nap time. She loves to see it: her brother was super playful, too.

German Shepherds are an incredibly high-energy breed: they need good training and a ton of exercise to succeed. They’ll have high needs for their entire lives, but it’s especially important (and apparent) during puppyhood.

They literally never stop moving. Keeping yourself and your other dogs well-rested and happy might be a challenge in the first few months after bringing them home, but you can try:

  • Getting a playpen to keep puppy in when you need a break.

  • Having a designated room that puppy is not allowed in.

If this sweet new mama wanted a break, she could take one. Rest assured, she’s here of her own free will! Though, of course, who could say no to that face?
