I don’t know of many dogs who enjoy getting a bath. Whether it’s in the tub, outside in the yard, or with the groomer, staying in the suds can cause some stress and anxiety for pooches when they’re getting lathered up.
Case in point: Harley, an adorable Bernese Mountain pup, appeared to feel a bit out of place during his inaugural bath. This TikTok from @harleythebernese shows the timid tyke as less than thrilled about his time in the tub.
“Excuse me if this is…” the on-screen text read as Harley was getting lightly sprayed with a handheld shower head from behind. As the water works continued, Harley attempted to make a break for it as the text changed to “Mom please get me out of here…” but he was gently redirected back to the tub.
Harley apparently reached his breaking point near the end and tried to hoist himself out of the porcelain prison, but once again his efforts were in vain. The Bernese beauty looked as if he was saying “I look so small, this is embarrassing,” according to the words written across the screen.
Once handsome Harley was fully sudsed and rinsed, he was lovingly dried with a big fluffy towel. Upon completion of his first bath, Harley seemed relieved. Despite the Bernese pup’s trepidation on taking a dip, his followers found him delightful.
“Tell this chunkster I love him. Thank you for making my day,” one fan commented.
“Such a beautiful boy,” another remarked.
One follower provided a suggestion for a more pleasant experience next time around, recommending, “Peanut butter on the wall of the tub is the golden trick for me. Keeps ’em engaged and licking throughout.”
Bernese Mountain dogs are known as gentle giants due to their loving personalities, rapid growth, and large stature, with an average height of 25 inches at adulthood. Looks like Harley’s parents may soon need a bigger tub!
