When you live on a secluded homestead far from some of life’s conveniences, it takes time to get anywhere or do anything. Imagine having an important appointment but your extremely large fur patient has other plans.
Enter a Livestock Guardian Dog named Az who’s due for a vet checkup. The only problem is, he’s not into the idea, like at all, and because of his weight, it’s going to take more than Dad to lure him into the truck.
I have to hand to Az for putting his full weight down to prove a point. By now, @natepetroski is used to his antics. He’s adorable, but his sheer size alone is enough to recruit the whole village for help.
The devoted pup has a tough job. He spends his time protecting all the homestead’s precious animals. With that comes a certain degree of independence. Unfortunately, this works great for doing his job but not so well when he’s tasked with something he’d rather avoid!
Some may have confused the giant pup with a polar bear, but others had a pretty entertaining commentary going about AZ’s livestock guardian nature.
“Just like a farmer if he ain’t dying he ain’t going,” one person joked.
“He does not want to go places or do things,” another wrote.
Another person added, “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t lead Az in the TRX … or whatever that saying is.”
Anyone following Az’s vet journey knows the 173-pound good boy was a perfect gentleman. He may not have wanted to go, but he got through it. When all is said and done, the gentle soul would much rather be home meeting the new baby quail.
Spoiler alert: He once again proves he’s the best boy in the whole world.
The is one dog who might take a bit of bribery to do anything other than his job—and that’s the best thing about him. You did great, Az!
