Costco Brought Back Its Fan-Favorite Steel Plant Caddy Set and Shoppers Say It’s a ‘Bargain’

Full sun, partial sun, sun-shade, half-sun, half-shade—plants can be more demanding than my 6-year-old kiddo in terms of what they require to be happy and healthy. And when the sun and shade shift around parts of your yard and porch, you’re left looking at some unhappy plants wondering why you couldn’t anticipate their needs.

A moveable garden is ideal, right? Something on wheels so you can change the placement of your plants with ease. Now obviously this doesn’t work for a large garden bed, or an in-ground garden, for that matter. But those container gardens? Well Costco is selling just the thing to make those plants portable.

Costco’s Steel Plant Caddy, 2-pack, is only $33.99 (so about $17 per caddy) and perfect for putting those plants on wheels. And not just any wheels, each of these has “heavy duty ball-bearing casters, two locking,” so nothing is going to roll away when you have them locked in.

These caddies aren’t just practical for moving plants in and out of sun or shade, they also make redecorating a porch or patio so much easier. Think you could use a bit of greenery in an empty corner? Roll it on over! No heavy lifting here—it’s pretty awesome.

And if you have houseplants you’d like to relocate, you can use these caddies indoors, too. That way that oversized fiddle-leaf fig can move around wherever you like.

How do you know how much sun or shade your plants require? First, determine whether it’s a full sun, partial sun or full shade variety.

For full sun, this means a plant requires at least six hours of direct sun each day, with nothing blocking it from that giant blazing orb in the sky. Partial sun means a plan needs anywhere from three to six hours of direct sun each day, but can benefit from shade during the really scorching hours mid-day. For full-shade, these plants need less than three hours of direct sun daily, benefitting from plenty of time out of the sun’s rays.
