It’s hard enough to be a new mom, but imagine doing it as a dog who recently gave birth. Instead of one baby (or maybe twins), you have an entire litter depending on you!
When it comes down to it, being a new mom as a dog isn’t all that different from being a new mom as a human, and as we can see in the video of a Boxer mom below, that’s true down to the baby cuddles.
Recently, @angels_boxers on TikTok shared this adorable footage of a new mama named Nani who is all snuggled up in her bed with her arms around her puppy, Walter. It’s not often that we get to see dogs like this, hugging their baby like a human mom would cuddle her newborn.
As her baby snoozes in her arms, Nani only holds him closer. She’s already so protective of Walter — not that we blame her. That maternal instinct comes in pretty hot sometimes.
And after watching more footage of Walter, I can confirm that he deserves all the cuddles from his mama, and not just because he’s so cute! Here, you can see that he’s actually already mastered a few commands, like “sit” and “paw,” despite how little he still is!
So far, Nani has been a very loving mom — and that’s no easy task, since along with Walter, there are six other puppies in the litter to keep up with (and cuddle with).
She even makes time to play with her pups, as we can see in the video below:
Nani’s babies just made their arrival in early February, so sweet Walter should be just about two months old at this point… and so far, it looks like he’s killing it at this whole puppy thing.
Here’s hoping this new mom is soaking up all the cuddles with her Boxer babies. As moms of all species know, the time when they’re so little goes by so fast.
