So much happened during the action-packed ending of The White Lotus season 3 that we’re honestly still processing, but as fans sit with the finale, some questions remain. Actually, one question specifically: who was the dead body that floated by Zion in episode one?
The body in question has been a source of mystery throughout the show, but—with a dark-ish (maybe grey or white?) shirt and dark hair—it doesn’t seem to match any of the three main characters who died: Jim’s body didn’t even hit the water, and Rick and Chelsea were both wearing bright colors.
Meanwhile, we saw hotel manager Fabian fall into the water when Jim was shot, so…the body could have been him? Though, unclear why he’d just be floating past Zion face-down vs. swimming away in fear of his life.
There’s also some speculation on Reddit that the body in episode one could have been a random hotel worker who got shot with a stray bullet, or even one of the bodyguards. As one person put it: “This was not explained. I’ve been trying to find a definitive answer too. The body Zion found was floating face down, had short black hair and beige shirt. It was not explained, though most likely the body guard or possibly a random hotel staff worker caught a stray bullet.”
There’s also some frustration that the show never confirmed who the body was, but to be fair, there was a lot going on!
