Every dog that ends up at the dog shelter has a story. And King’s story is one of the worst that we’ve ever heard. The German Shepherd was “bullied” by the kids in his neighborhood before being abandoned at a dumping ground. Thankfully, the dog was scooped up and brought to The Humane Society of Broward County in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he’s now safe.

King didn’t deserve to be treated this way. No dog does. The only silver lining in this story was that the dog was found and now has the chance for a second life.

As the shelter explained, King had a rough go of it before coming to them.

“This 5-year-old gentleman has been let down by people over and over again,” they explained in the caption.

The poor German Shepherd mix was shot at with BB guns when he was a stray. He was found injured when the rescue got him. “And somehow… after everything… King is still gentle. Still sweet. Still trusting,” they wrote.

That’s right. Despite how terrible humans have been to him, King is still a lover at heart. His favorite things are squeaky toys, chasing balls, and treats.

“After everything he’s survived, King is still waiting for someone to choose him. To keep him. To love him like he’s always deserved,” they explained in the post.

People in the comments section only wanted the best for King.

“So sad, I feel so bad for these fur babies. I wish I could save them all,” wrote one person.

“MY HEART BREAKS FOR THIS SWEET BOY,” another commenter chimed in.

“King needs an angel to give him a forever home with lots of love, hugs, kisses and treats!” someone else added.

“What a gorgeous dog! Hold people accountable for abuse,” demanded another commenter.

Adopting From Humane Broward

King needs a forever home — can you give him one? The German Shepherd is such a good boy. Which is why we’re hoping that the right person sees this video and adopts him from Humane Broward. All it takes is a few clicks to submit an application. King could have a loving family out there. Let’s find them!
