Getting home from a long day of work is the thing most people spend all day looking forward to. You might love your job, but being at home is so special.
It’s even more special when there’s a small black bear in your house, apparently. When he got home from a long day, one dog dad got the greeting of a lifetime. Much like his Newfoundland, it was truly larger than life:
Homer the Newfoundland is huge, shiny, and was covered in snow that day. Being that he’s actually Canadian, it makes sense!

Homer is a 5-year-old Newfoundland living in Newfoundland, Canada! He loves his life there: obviously, the weather is perfect for him. He goes for lots of walks every day and makes tons of friends whenever he goes to doggy daycare!
Mostly, though, he loves his family. He might be the size of a small bear, but as far as his attitude is concerned, he might as well be a Chihuahua. He loves to sit on laps, snuggle up, and leap up in greeting whenever someone gets home.
Newfoundlands have big hearts to match their big bodies. Homer is a perfect example: he adores his family. Above all else, he always wants to be with them, and whenever they’re not around, he’s sitting around like:
As with all giant dog breeds, training is key. They may not be prone to jumping fences, and many of them are not biters by nature, but they’re huge, and huge is overbearing. It’s very easy for a Newfoundland to overwhelm someone.
Mostly, Newfies need to be trained to come when called and keep “four on the floor” (all paws on the ground) at all times. Jumping up on guests, especially children, can be dangerous.
For the most part, Homer follows the rules. However, when it comes to dad… All bets are off!
