“He goes, ‘I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum.'”
Legendary musician John Mellencamp apparently has detailed plans for daughter (and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum) Teddi Mellencamp‘s burial amid the latter’s ongoing battle with brain cancer.
Teddi, 43, revealed on the most recent episode of her Two Ts in a Pod podcast (co-hosted by fellow Housewives alum Tamra Judge) that a prior phone conversation with her 73-year-old singer-songwriter father led to planning her final resting place in the family’s Indiana mausoleum.
The Housewives star (who was also diagnosed with skin cancer in 2022) revealed the discussion during a chat with Judge about some online commenters using her brain cancer diagnosis, which she publicly revealed in February, to say horrific things about her prognosis.
“Yesterday my dad calls 11 times in a row. I finally answer, I’m like, ‘I’m in the bath, let me live a little, let me enjoy.’ He goes, ‘I just want to make sure you’re going to be in our group family mausoleum,'” Teddi told a shocked Judge.
“I said, ‘I have kids, so where are they gonna go?’ He’s like, ‘There’s gonna be the top five, and then we’re gonna have little areas around it, and that’s where everyone’s gonna get buried,'” Teddi recalled.
She continued: “I go, ‘Do I need to make this commitment right now?’ And he goes, ‘You’re doing your will right now, so you may as well put it in there.'”
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for John for comment.
Teddi then told Judge that she’s “going to have to visit my grave” in Indiana. Though the conversation was relatively grim, Teddi and her father still shared some laughs over the serious matter.
“He goes, ‘You want to know the good news? Hot girls never die,'” Teddi remembered. “That’s going on my tombstone.”
Teddi later admitted that she “maybe” started the conversation with her dad about final arrangements, after he brought up the social media hatred his daughter received.
“I was all annoyed about the person on Instagram,” Teddi said, before revealing that she “agreed to be in the mausoleum” and stressed to her dad that she doesn’t “want to be a vegetable” at any point during her cancer battle.
In March, Teddi told her followers on Instagram that her initial cancer diagnosis was worse than initially reported.
“I have multiple tumors in my brain that weren’t able to be removed via surgery. I also have 2 tumors in my lung. These are all metastases of my melanoma,” Mellencamp wrote on the platform. “The doctors are hopeful that immunotherapy will effectively treat them.”
