Everybody enjoys watching videos of puppies doing cute things, and this one of a Golden Retriever puppy named Summit Barnes is no exception. The puppy doesn’t just sit when he’s told; he does it with style!
Summit’s mom says in the video’s overlay that he doesn’t know it yet, but he’s going to become Instagram famous for the way he sits. After watching the video, you’ll see why!
Summit’s video wins the internet for the day! While Summit is no longer a puppy, he still has the same adorable way of sitting…some things never change!
I wasn’t the only one who thought it was the cutest thing ever; people left over 1,000 comments about the Golden’s unique way of sitting. @Rachaeljelly said what we were all thinking, “Me watching the first video like what? “I don’t get it; he’s sitting like a normal dog” and then the compilation started…oooooh! Boing!”
Commenter @c6e4_ asked the question we were all wondering, “Who taught this baby that?!” Summit’s mom replied, “He did it all on his own!”
I couldn’t agree more with @juliakoury who shared, “It’s the ear flaps for me LOL!” and the @thestumpybrigade joked, “Is he spring loaded?!”
@beautiful_sd pointed out, “To be honest it’s the most efficient way to get up – full force of happiness!” and @libby0224 added, “The timing of the song is THE BEST!” If you want to see more of Summit’s current boings, you can check out another video compilation of them that will totally make you smile!

How to Teach a Puppy to ‘Sit’
While you may not be able to teach your puppy to sit like Summit does (I mean, who wouldn’t want your dog to sit like that?!), teaching a puppy to sit is one of the first commands they learn. It’s relatively simple to do, just make sure you have lots of treats available!
First tip, keep your training sessions short. Puppies have short attention spans and can lose interest or get tired pretty quickly. Don’t overdo your training sessions; try keeping them to 5 minutes at a time throughout the day.
Use just one word – sit – to teach the command. Another Pet Helpful article explains how simple it is to get your puppy to sit. Say the word sit and then hold a treat “above his nose and move it upwards and backwards over his head. He should naturally move his body into the sit position. When he does, say the word “sit” and praise him.”
Yep, it’s really as simple as that! Reinforce the new sit command by doing it often and consistently. Master this one before moving on to the next one; try the ‘stay’ command next!
