Some of our pets have very funny traits that make them unique and keep us entertained. This Siberian cat named Mary has an interesting way of sitting on the couch or in a chair; she sits just like a human does!
Mary’s mom recently shared a video of Mary sitting in her chair enjoying a movie night. Mom was holding some popcorn that she made, and Mary couldn’t keep her eyes off of it. But what’s funny about it is that she’s trying to look like she’s not at all interested in the popcorn!
Mary’s human says in the video’s caption, she’d be eyeing that popcorn though which totally cracked me up! Viewers of Mary’s video were just as amused as I was by the Siberian cat’s fixation on the popcorn.
@Sammy Hallam shared, “You’re supposed to feed her popcorn like a queen is fed grapes.” @mikeytypex urged Mary’s mom, “Do the right thing, human.” @Theresa pointed out, “The way she adjusts her legs after you. LOL!”

Cool Facts About Siberian Cats
Siberian cats have been around a long time. ASPCA Pet Insurance shared, “Siberian cats are believed to have originated in the dense forests of Siberia at least 1,000 years ago. Some people even think these silky beauties are the ancestors to all modern longhair cats.”
Believe it or not, Siberian cats didn’t arrive in the U.S. until around 1990, so they haven’t been here very long and are still relatively rare…and expensive. You can expect to pay between $1,000 and $2,500 for a Siberian from a reputable breeder.
These energetic, dare devil problem solvers might look familiar to you, as many people think that the breed resembles Maine Coons because they’re so big, have large paws, and tufted ears. But Siberians have different coats, a thick, three-layered coat that they needed to survive those long, frigid Russian winters. It consists of “coarse and straight guard hairs, thin and wavy awn hairs, and a wooly down undercoat”. It’s like wearing a built-in jacket!
Their coats distinguish them from many cats for another reason, too. The ASPCA shared, “Siberian cats have water-repellant coats and actually enjoy water. Don’t be surprised if your Siberian pal tries to join you in the shower!”
