As a pet parent to three cats and two dogs, I sometimes forget that, while I’m moving about my life, theirs revolves around me.
It’s both heartwarming and breaking once I realize one of them has been waiting for me to notice them politely asking for attention. Whether it’s by offering me a toy to hint at playtime or staring at me until I look at them, dogs truly are too pure for this world.
Wilbur the Dachshund proves this point, as the happy, little man hears Dad stirring upstairs one morning and immediately ran to grab a gift to give him.
The recent TikTok video shared by @wilbbur_minidox is the perfect example of how excited our pets get when they know we’re near. His sweet stuffie offering for Dad is an act of the purest kind of unconditional love.
The thoughtful Dachshund has been a real heartthrob for awhile now. Even with the addition of little Doxie sister Palmer, he’s a fan favorite, thanks to his gentle nature and affectionate temperament.
Of the pup’s near 83k followers, people had major feelings watching sweet Wilbur waiting with his surprise for Dad.
“I mean no disrespect to Palmer who I love too but I would die for Wilbur,” one person wrote. “Dude’s a fluff UNIT and I love him,” another added, while another demanded, “tell dad to HURRY UP!”

My favorite commenter wrote, “I just sent this to my wife and said ‘no 2 story houses’ because I can’t stand thinking about my boy not having access to me,” which is such a solid pet parent vibe.
Wilbur is certainly obsessed with Dad, but the precious boy gets equally “pupset” at the thought of Mom leaving, too. To really rub salt in the wound, he also brings her a gift.
I sure hope Dad didn’t make Wilbur wait too long for the surprise. Though I’m sure the angel would wait forever if there’s even the possibility of taking a moment of Dad’s time. We don’t deserve dogs in this universe or any other.
