Bernedoodles of all colors are adorable. Doodles, in general, are pretty cute, save for the fact that they have slightly disturbingly human-like eyes. When it comes to their fur, though, they can hardly be beat, and they’re very snuggly.
Recently, though, one Bernedoodle took home the gold for “most gorgeous coat.” He looks like a Bernedoodle, an Aussiedoodle, and a Calico cat all had a beautiful baby:
Truffle the Bernedoodle is amazing. Plus, his eyes are so beautiful, too! Everything about this boy is really just spectacular.

Truffle is still a baby: he just turned 7 months old. In those 7 months, he’s done a lot, from playing to eating and being a social media star. Given that he’s a Bernedoodle, he’s a pretty social boy in real life, too. He loves to make new friends and try new things.
His coloring is pretty unusual for a Bernedoodle. The breed is a cross between a Poodle and a Bernese Mountain Dog: typically, you’ll find them in shades of white, black, and orange-y tan. They look a little something like this:
My neighbor actually has a few of these pups, and they’re gorgeous, but they don’t hold a candle to Truffle. There’s something special about him!
It’s his Merle gene, which is a rarity in Bernedoodles: it has to be specifically introduced into one breed or the other, since it doesn’t occur naturally in either of them. While it virtually eliminates the possibility of Double Merle breeding (which is problematic and, by and large, awful), some still consider it controversial.
These dogs, given that they’re incredibly rare, are expensive. If you’re looking for a Merle Bernedoodle, you’ll need to do extensive research into not just the breeder’s physical ethical practices, but also their genetic testing and research. Safety is key with dogs like this!
Truffle was purchased from a speciality breeder who conducts extensive health testing on their dogs; he’s as healthy as he could possibly be. Plus, his coat is kind of incredible!
