Golden Retriever Who Loves to ‘Walk Herself Home’ Has the Proudest Little Prance

It’s only natural that dogs rely on us humans for so much — after all, aren’t we the ones who domesticated them? They depend on us for food, shelter, water, a safe (and comfy) place to sleep… and of course, if they want to get their daily exercise, that’s usually on us, too. Somebody’s gotta hold the leash!

Unless, of course, you are the Golden Retriever in the video below, who can clearly hold her own leash. And after seeing her proud little prance, it’s probably safe to say that she’d be glad to know that millions of people online have witnessed her strutting her stuff.

Here, we have Piper, the star of this TikTok video shared by @maggie09_sids. She’s out for her walk, but when they were almost home, she took matters into her own hands and grabbed the leash from her dad.

Despite being an active dog, Piper needs a little extra exercise these days, and she doesn’t look mad at it at all! Commenters were even cheering her on, with one person joking, “Don’t listen to me but I think she deserves a treat. I fear I would be the issue.” LOL!

Piper’s daily walks for her health began very recently, and Maggie’s dad has been documenting the journey along the way. In a follow up video about this very independent Golden Retriever, Piper’s dad gave her new fans a peek at day three of her new routine, and she seems perfectly happy directing her own walk here, too.

Piper even looks both ways before crossing the street, which is clearly a sign of her genius.

I hope that these videos of Piper keep coming while she’s on her health journey, because she’s actually motivating me to go for a walk, and I know I’m probably not the only one!

She’s also teaching all of us another important lesson: When you think you can’t do something on your own, remember that you are strong enough to hold your own leash! (Metaphorically, of course.)
