FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — An investigation has led to two men being arrested on drug trafficking charges in Florence.
On Wednesday, April 2, agents with the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force began conducting surveillance on a man while he was at work at a downtown business in Florence.
Florence Police identified that man as Tracy Devaughn Pride.
According to FPD, agents received information that Pride was making drug transactions while at work.
Authorities said that Pride was seen walking to a vehicle and making what agents believed to be a drug transaction.
Florence Police told News 19 that officers pulled the vehicle over and identified the driver as Edward Shane Daugherty.
The traffic stop led to officers finding a trafficking amount of Methamphetamine (ICE) inside the vehicle.
As agents continued to watch Pride, he was seen at one point with a black backpack. After Pride left his workplace, officers tried to pull him over but he did not stop.
Authorities said that the chase ended when Pride lost control of his vehicle and ran his car into a house on Minniehaha Street in Florence.
During the chase, the backpack that Pride was seen with earlier was thrown from the vehicle.
After recovering the backpack, agents found the following:
- Cocaine – approximately a pound
- Methamphetamine- over 250 grams (over half a pound)
- Digital Scales
Due to injuries that Pride received during the crash he was not charged for the drugs at the time. Police said that a warrant was obtained for his arrest once he was treated and released for his injuries.
A warrant was also served on Edward Shane Daughtery for Trafficking in Methamphetamine.
Tracy Devaughn Pride, 34, of Florence was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine (ICE), Trafficking in Cocaine, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Edward Shane Daugherty, 45, of Florence was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine (ICE).
The Florence Police Department, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office all assisted the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force during the investigation.
