Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy is hooked on books once more.
“I made it a goal in December to start actively reading again and since then have read over 15 books,” the “Dancing With the Stars” pro tells Page Six, adding that the only way she can stay focused on a book is if she’s captivated by characters and storylines.
“Call me cliché, but I am a sucker for a romance novel. Who doesn’t love love??” she says. “I will also go for a mystery, but there has to be some sprinkles of romance throughout.”
Chmerkovskiy, who is gearing up for her final “Dancing With the Stars Live” tour dates, tells us her favorite time to curl up with a good book is after her 2-year-old son, Rome, goes to bed.
“It’s my personal time to let my mind relax and let my imagination dive deep into glorious stories!”
See below for Chmerkovskiy’s must-reads.
“This is my favorite book from this past year. It had me on the edge of seat with every page I turned. I love a suspense novel that has a captivating romance intertwined. I have to admit, being a mother made me super emotional and bitter during chapters but it was an exquisite read. I also heard that it is going to be a movie soon and I cannot wait!”
“So many people recommended this book and I have to be honest, it was not at all what I was expecting … It was even better! The story takes you on a beautiful journey of a woman’s longing to ‘make it’ and then ultimately survive in Hollywood. Sacrifice, love, betrayal and an unexpected twist are all things you will get from this masterpiece … oh, and seven failed marriages with one true love.”
“I obviously am a big romance novel/mystery novel girly, but this book has been a staple in our household for years. It has been a book that when I need a little lifting of my spirit or reminder of my worth, I immediately turn to it. It is a vulnerable, real account of failure turned into self love. The simple challenge Kamal gives to look at yourself daily and repeat ‘I love myself’ is an affirmation all of us need in our lives!”
“Ana really did a number with this series! OMG, they are spicy! I love that these four books are intertwined with the characters, but each book is a standalone read. If you love some romance, these are for you! I have to say that my favorite one was book two, ‘Twisted Games.’ I really loved the characters’ storyline the most — and not to mention, I’m obsessed with the idea of royals, so it had me hooked. I truly enjoyed every second of it.”
“I was not prepared for the epic twist in this book. You know when you feel so strongly about a character and feel every emotion for them … but then it’s turned on its head?? I loved that I was not prepared for any part of this storyline! It had me staying up until 2 a.m. just to finish the next chapter. I could not put it down! I am excited to read the next books that follow and see if they have the same effect on me.”
“This book rocked my world. I felt so connected to the main character and the lengths she would go for her child. I felt every emotion throughout this book! Such a beautiful love story throughout as well. But beware, this one will have you in tears on many occasions.”
