The White Lotus Season 3 finale “Amor Fati” features a scene where otherwise embattled lovers Rick (Walton Goggins) and Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) get a single moment of bliss on the hit HBO show. They rush into each others’ arms on a sunlit beach and kiss. It’s a beautiful, emotional reunion for the two offbeat lovebirds. And, according to Aimee Lou Wood, it was almost a moment of hilarity, thanks to her “funny” run.

About twenty minutes into The White Lotus Season 3 Episode 8 “Amor Fati,” Chelsea cuts a sweet scene with Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) short when she sees Rick has returned from his trip to Bangkok. She leaves the lovelorn Saxon hanging and dashes straight towards Rick. They kiss, reconnect, and Rick tells Chelsea that he didn’t kill Jim Hollinger (Scott Glenn).
“It was so lovely to film, it felt so magical,” Aimee Lou Wood told DECIDER when she stopped by our studios last week. “But what is really funny is that Frank, one of the camera guys, he was like, ‘Aimee, that choice, that was a genius choice you made to have Chelsea run like that. It’s so funny! It’s such a funny choice that you made. She’s got such a silly run. Like, what made you think of that?’”
“And I was like, ‘That is my run. That is just Aimee’s run.’”
Wood went on to explain that she thought she was doing a “really beautiful, kind of Pamela Anderson run across the beach and everyone was like, ‘What a hilarious choice you just made.’”
What was even more hilarious to Wood was the fact that later that same day, co-star Walton Goggins called her out on her “really funny run” when they were hanging out on the same beach with Leslie Bibb and Carrie Coon.
“Walton was like, ‘Aimee Lou, you have to show them your run. You have to show them your run.’” Wood said. “And Leslie stood at the end of the beach, and I ran to her, and she was crying with laughter! And then she was like, ‘No, it’s beautiful. It’s beautiful.’”
“So I’m nervous to see that reunion moment because I want to see how funny my run is.“
Luckily for Aimee Lou Wood, her run is not cause for hysterics in the final cut of the scene. White Lotus creator/writer/director Mike White emphasizes the sunlit romance of the moment, which is how Wood saw it play out.
“In my head it was very much like you know there’s string quartet, we’re being reunited. It looks beautiful,” she said, before once again worrying. “But I think people, maybe my run — I’m actually nervous to see it. I haven’t seen it. And I just had that whole thing of, ‘What was wrong with my run?’”
