Colin Jost Continues ‘SNL’ Roast Of Morgan Wallen: “Money Is Leaving The Stock Market Faster Than” Country Singer During Goodnights

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update has jokes aplenty about Morgan Wallen‘s abrupt departure last week as the show’s credits began rolling.

Weekend Update continued the roast, following a swipe during the Cold Open, as co-host Colin Jost addressed President Donald Trump‘s recent tariffs. “Just in the past two days, investors have lost over six trillion dollars. Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnights,” he quipped.

He also added, “America elected Donald Trump to run the country like a business, but it turns out he’s running it like one of his businesses. I love that you can intentionally ruin the economy and still get to stay president. It’s like if you drunk drove your car through the window of the DMV and they were like, ‘License renewed!’”

Meanwhile, co-host Michael Che’s jab: Trump’s tariffs — which many economists say will worsen economic pain in the country — are because the president deems “the U.S. has been plundered and raped by other countries, and Trump will not stand for plundering.”

Capping off a solid Weekend Update was the first recurrence of the segment featuring Marcello Hernandez and Jane Wickline as Grant and Alyssa, “the couple you can’t believe are together.” With the former nearly breaking multiple times and the latter’s razor-sharp deadpan delivery, the bit was an instant crowdpleaser.

Meanwhile, Ego Nwodim truly brought down the house with her stand-up alter ego “Ms. Eggy,” performing an over-the-top set filled with inaccurate details about herself (that she was over 50 and had children) as she tried out for the White House correspondents dinner, which was supposed to feature Amber Ruffin as the featured entertainer this year. While engaging the crowd in a call-and-response, Nwodim accidentally got the audience to curse, making it past the typical network censors. “These men ain’t what?” she said, as the crowd audibly shouted “sh–,” prompting Jost to wave his arms around and Che to jolt out of his seat, as Nwodim ad-libbed “We’re finna get fired for that” and “Y’all gonna have to pay for that, Lorne’s gonna be mad at y’all.”
