Police issued a public safety announcement after a DUI suspect drove their car off a staircase, crashing into a popular beach walk route in Los Angeles County.
The Redondo Beach Police Department posted footage of the crash to Instagram on Friday.
In the caption, the department wrote, “This is a PSA for anyone considering drinking and then getting behind the wheel to drive into the Esplanade.”
The social media post goes on to show, in a flash, a white BMW convertible zoom through an intersection and fly off a staircase in Redondo Beach. The security footage is dated March 25.
A police officer is then seen sticking a laminated sign that reads “No vehicles” underneath a street sign issuing rules, such as no skateboards, bicycles or rollerblades.
The photos that follow show the damaged car at the bottom of the stairwell, as well as the efforts to remove the car by crane.
“Driving under the influence can always lead to dangerous, and sometimes fatal, accidents,” read the PSA. “Thankfully, the individuals involved in this accident were not seriously injured.”
Details remain limited, and officials did not immediately identify the DUI suspect or the other passengers in the car.
No other damages or injuries were reported.
