A Riverside County man was arrested for kidnapping and attempted murder after allegedly holding a person against their will.
The suspect was identified as Arturo Salcido Aguilar, 47, of Blythe, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
On April 1, deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon near the 7500 block of U.S. Highway 95 at 5:22 p.m.
The victim, who was not identified, told authorities Aguilar had allegedly strangled them and was preventing them from leaving their home. The suspect fled the scene before authorities arrived.
A few days later on April 4, Aguilar was located in a vehicle on the 400 block of Chanslor Way in Blythe. Deputies attempted to pull his car over, but Aguilar allegedly refused to cooperate before ditching his car and fleeing on foot.
With the help of the sheriff’s K9 unit, he was eventually located and taken into custody.
He was arrested for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, victim intimidation and burglary.
Details on how the suspect and victim knew each other were not released. The incident remains under investigation.
