A viral video has sparked attention after asking millennials—born in the 1980s and 1990s—if they have a certain mark on their arm.
In a post by Teresa, a New York resident who shares her spiritual theories on TikTok, she asked people born in the 80s and 90s if they have the same mark she does on her arm—a small freckle on the left forearm.
In the now-viral clip, Teresa pointed out a faint mark on her arm, stating that nearly everyone she knows from those generations has the same mark in the same location.
“I realized everyone had the mark after I happened to notice it on myself. I’m just very observant and connected spiritually, and something just drew me to this mark,” Teresa, who didn’t share her surname, told Newsweek.
“I started looking at everyone around me and noticed that everyone born in the 80s or 90s had it, while those from other generations did not. It’s mainly on the left side.”
She believes this mysterious mark could be a sign of a deeper connection among those born in these decades.
“I have always felt like the 80s and 90s generation were special and connected in some way because nothing has ever compared to those years—they were just different and felt different. I think maybe we are the chosen ones,” she said.
Teresa’s video quickly gained traction, with thousands of users checking their own arms. Some viewers were convinced the marks are a cosmic or spiritual sign, while others suggested a more logical explanation, such as routine childhood vaccinations or minor scars from common childhood incidents.
What is an ‘Indigo Child’?
Some viewers have linked the phenomenon to the New Age concept of “indigo children”—a pseudoscientific belief that certain people possess special spiritual traits and are destined to bring change to the world.
The concept of indigo children originated in the 1970s with parapsychologist and self-described synesthete and psychic Nancy Ann Tappe. She shared her ideas in the book Understanding Your Life Through Color where she explained her belief that these children possessed special spiritual characteristics and missions.
According to believers, such children may share physical characteristics such as unique birthmarks or distinctive features. However, no scientific evidence supports the claim that such marks have any deeper meaning.
One commenter said: “Why do we all have this?”
Another wrote: “Alright are we the aliens?”
“According to google, we’re all soul tied,” said one TikTok user.
Others had different theories, like one commenter who said: “It’s a mark from the bloodline of witches.”
But many others weren’t convinced.
“It’s literally an arm freckle. Almost everyone has them,” said one commenter.
“Isn’t that a freckle. I have them all over,” said another viewer.
