Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has been one of the more polarizing prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft class.
To some, the running back position does not hold any major value, making the idea of Jeanty entering the top 10 somewhat controversial.
To others, his lack of experience at Boise State against top talents from conferences like the SEC or Big Ten has begun to cause doubts about his ability to be an impact player at the NFL level.
In terms of talent, however, no one can deny Jeanty’s ability, and the proof is in the tape. And according to one NFL analyst, there is one franchise where he would have a chance to be an ideal fit.
Per NFL Draft analyst Rob Rang, the best fit for Jeanty is not the obvious candidates like the Dallas Cowboys or Las Vegas Raiders, but the Denver Broncos—even if that scenario is unlikely due to their draft position.
“There is no reasonable scenario in which Jeanty — one of the few true blue-chippers of this class — would still be available to Denver at No. 20 overall, but given his Alvin Kamara-like skill set, it might be worth pairing him with Sean Payton. North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton or either of the Ohio State duo of Quinshon Judkins and Treveyon Henderson would be less costly but quality alternatives.”
As Rang points out, it is highly unlikely Jeanty will remain available at No. 20, which would force them to move in another direction come draft day.
That said, it is also not outside of the realm of possibility that if Jeanty falls out of the top 10, Denver could trade up with a team like Dallas or San Francisco, for example, if they decide he is their ideal target.
Of course, that could cost Denver a pretty penny in terms of draft capital. In a trade scenario with Dallas, the Broncos would have to send the No. 20 pick in Round 1 and the No. 51 pick in Round 2 back to the Cowboys in exchange for No. 12 and possibly a fifth-rounder at No. 171 or No. 149.
That seems like a lot for a player at a position that does not hold the same value as it did a decade ago.
But as Saquon Barkley showed us during the Philadelphia Eagles’ magical Super Bowl run this past season, there could be a resurgence at the position on the horizon.
