South of Midnight could debatably be called “South of Noon,” based on its release time in some time zones.
South of Midnight is a Southern Gothic-inspired action adventure that’s also the next notable “Game Pass” release — a AA game that might fly under the radar but gets a boost by Xbox’s marketing apparatus for launching day one (albeit with staggered access) on Game Pass.
So like Avowed, Atomfall, or Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, expect a broad release that’s preceded by period of early access available to some players.
Here’s when South of Midnight releases in early access, plus some details about when it’s coming to Game Pass, and information about what you’ll get from the premium edition edition.
How to play South of Midnight in early access
To play South of Midnight in early access, you must preorder the premium edition of the game.
The premium edition of South of Midnight costs $49.99 ($10 more than the standard edition) and gets you the following:
- The South of Midnight OST
- The South of Midnight art book
- “The Boo-Hag,” a companion comic book
- “Weaving Hazel’s Journey,” a director’s commentary named after the main characters
- The “Songs and Tales” music video
South of Midnight early access release time
South of Midnight launches in early access at 12 p.m. EDT on Thursday, April 3 — five days ahead of its wide release on Tuesday, April 8. Here’s the South of Midnight early access release time in your time zone:
- 9 a.m. PDT for the West Coast of North America
- 12 p.m. EDT for the East Coast of North America
- 5 p.m. BST for the U.K.
- 6 p.m. CEST for Western Europe/Paris
- 1 a.m. JST on April 4 for Tokyo
- 3 a.m. AEDT on April 4 for Sydney
Is South of Midnight coming to Game Pass?
Yes, South of Midnight is coming to Game Pass day one on Tuesday, April 8.
But be sure to check what tier of Game Pass subscription you have. South of Midnight is only available to those who subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass PC tiers. At launch, South of Midnight won’t be available to Xbox Game Pass Standard or Xbox Game Pass Core subscribers.
As of this writing, neither Compulsion Games nor Xbox Game Studios has announced an exact release time for South of Midnight on Game Pass or its wide release on Xbox and Windows PC. We’ll update this post when more information is available
