Here we go again! Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney are not dating, and they need us to know that. Long after their Anyone but You press tour was dogged by rumors of an on-set affair (a publicity strategy…perhaps organized by Sweeney?), fans are once again speculating that the two stars might be a couple, with Sweeney recently attending a Powell family wedding just after calling off her engagement to Jonathan Davino.
But not so fast. Sweeney is just pals with Glen’s little sister Leslie, and she brought a friend as her plus-one, according to Powell’s mom. That’s right—Glen Powell has struck, in my opinion, PR gold with the innovation to have his mom do his press releases.

“They’re definitely not together,” Cyndy Powell told the Daily Mail, calling the stories of their purported fling “silly” and insisting, “[There is] nothing going on behind closed doors.” And TBQH, we believe her. Because if they had a relationship behind closed doors, why would they also be so obvious in front of said doors? If you’re having a secret romance, you probably don’t let yourself get papped at brunch? Either it’s not real or this is a soft launch for the ages.
“We love Sydney. We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend,” Mama Powell added. “We all were together so much, and we haven’t seen her in a long time. She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.” She also revealed that Sweeney RSVP’d for the event “a long time ago” (presumably this is code for “before calling off her engagement”) and brought a friend as her date.
“[Glen is] the kindest person and he is so others-oriented. He loves his family, he loves his friends. And Sydney is a friend. They’ve been friends for so long. They’ve known each other for so long and they’ve both been single and together and with other people,” she continued. Moms do love to yap about their sons. “They could have made anything happen that they wanted to at any point,” she added. Uh…Sydney Sweeney actually hasn’t been single since she met Powell? Unless we missed something? She got engaged years before Anyone but You happened? Hmm. Watch this space.
