Celebrities — they’re not just like us. But it turns out you can have one as your landlord.
Stars with large real estate portfolios have taken to the rental market to list their extra pads while they’re off filming on location, on a world tour, or at one of their other homes. From a stunning Italian villa owned by a rockstar to a sprawling Hollywood estate owned by one of music’s biggest names, here are six of the most luxurious celebrity homes you can rent.
If you’ve been dying to take a trip to Florence, Italy, why not stay at Sting’s 15-bedroom, 16th-century villa while you’re there? Il Palagio, a 350-hectare estate, has a nine-bedroom, four-floor primary house with a meditation corner and gym, an indoor garden, a wine cellar, a library, and a recording studio. Further villas on the property mean the estate can host about 400 guests, and a staff of cooks, maids, gardeners, and concierges is part of your stay — which will cost a little over $250,000 for seven nights. The property produces grains, wines, oil, apricots, and cherries, and guests can wander among the manicured gardens, rustic stable, stylish swimming pool, and tennis court.
If your nemesis is winning the battle of public opinion, you might need a place to lay low for a bit. Drake’s 10-bedroom, 22-bathroom, 25,000-square-foot, Tuscan-style house might be a good place to do just that. The Canadian rapper bought the estate for $75 million in 2022 and quickly put it back on the market for $88 million, but while it’s waiting to be sold, you can rent the compound for $250,000 a month. The main house has seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, formal living and dining rooms, a gourmet kitchen with a breakfast room, a library, and two family rooms (one of which doubles as a professional screening room). There’s also a separate staff wing and a guest house. Other amenities include an 11-car garage, an elevator, a wine cellar, a gym, a game room, a pool, an indoor/outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven, an orchard, and a hidden tennis court.
Love doesn’t need to be found in a hopeless place. It can be found in Beverly Hills at Calvin Harris’ 10-bedroom, 12-bathroom estate that comes with its own basketball court. Harris paid $15 million for the house when it first came on the market and listed it in 2022 for $25 million, where it has stayed since. In the interim, you can rent it for a reported $100,000 per month. The property’s two-story guest house is currently set up as recording studios, and there’s a security office and a five-car garage that has elevator access to a state-of-the-art movie theater. And don’t forget the gardens, hidden pool and sundeck with a pergola, barbecue area, fire pit, solar dome, and spa.
If you’re tired of the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, relax like Keith Richards: in style and by the beach in Turks and Caicos. His three-bedroom Rocky Point estate overlooks and has direct access to the Caribbean Sea, a private infinity pool, and a primary bedroom separate from the rest of the property; and it comes with private butler service and access to the Como Hotels facilities. One night will cost around a reported $8,000.
Why confine yourself to just a bungalow on an island when you could have a whole island to yourself? Enter: Necker Island, Richard Branson’s 74-acre paradise in the British Virgin Islands. It has 24 guest accommodations across the Great House and individual Balinese houses around the island; the island can be booked exclusively for up to 48 adults and six children for over $100,000 a night, or individual rooms can be booked at certain times of the year. There’s plenty to see and do (feed the lemurs, hike, go on a treasure hunt, paddleboard, relax in the spa) and eat (a floating sushi bar, meals featuring fresh and local ingredients), and Branson has stated his commitment to sustainable development and renewable energy. (The wealthiest individuals emit more climate pollution than two thirds of the global population.)
If you’re a fan of mid-century architecture and floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the beauty of the desert, look no further than 432 Hermosa. The home was built for actress and singer Dinah Shore and was designed by renowned architect Donald Wexler in 1964 before it was purchased by Leonardo DiCaprio, who reportedly uses the house for vacations. The six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bathroom 7,000-square-foot home sits on 1.3 acres of land that includes a tennis court, a spa, a swimming pool, and various outdoor fireplaces. One night here will cost upward of $3,750.
