A would-be robber called the cops on himself to plead for help after he hurt himself breaking into a Texas car dealership — then mistakenly thought he was stuck inside, police said.

Tyler, Texas police said Jeremiah Megallon called 911 Wednesday night after he cut himself on broken glass during his botched break-in at a Dodge dealership, KKTV reported.

Megallon, 38, hurt himself after he threw a rock through the window at the dealership, police said.

After entering the building through the broken glass, Megallon allegedly thought he couldn’t get out the same way and called the police for help despite there being other exits from the dealership, authorities said.

“He said he had broken into the Patterson Dodge dealership in an attempt to steal a car but was unable to get out of the building,” Public Information Officer Andy Erbaugh told Fox News Digital. “He had cuts from breaking a window at the dealership and crawling through it.

“Unfortunately for him, there were several unlocked doors he could have used to get out,” Erbaugh added. “After 26 years here, truth is stranger than fiction.”

Megallon was taken to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment. He was later taken to the Smith County Jail, where he was arrested for burglary of a building.

The dodge dealership said the only damage to their facility was the broken window, which will be replaced.

The only thing Megallon successfully stole was candy from the desk of a salesperson, according to staff.
