Paramount+‘s newest addictive drama, MobLand, just so happens to also be a star-studded crime caper. MobLand features a who’s who of heavy hitters from the big and small screen. Tom Hardy plays criminal “fixer” Harry Da Souza, Pierce Brosnan is his boss, powerful crime lord Conrad Harrigan, and none other than Dame Helen Mirren stars as terrifying matriarch Maeve Harrigan. Familiar faces from shows like House of the Dragon, Downton Abbey, and Sherlock round out MobLand‘s cast. Meaning, there’s a good chance you’ll recognize every character as a famous face from one of your favorite binge-watches.
Created by Ronan Bennett, MobLand was initially developed as a spin-off to Ray Donovan. However, as the show evolved, it became it’s own original story set in contemporary London. The first two episodes of MobLand are written by Bennett and Jez Butterworth and directed by gangster genre auteur Guy Ritchie. The show follows the fallout of the Harrigan crime family’s enfant terrible messy night on the town. Young Eddie Harrigan (Anson Boon) gets in the kind of trouble that Harry is meant to clean up. Only Eddie’s actions might be more cataclysmic than that. The kid might have inadvertently started a war.
MobLand‘s cast is full of major movie stars, British drama mainstays, and up-and-coming talent. Here’s your guide to who’s who in MobLand:
-
Tom Hardy as Harry Da Souza
Who is Harry Da Souza in MobLand?: Harry is a “fixer” for the Harrigan crime family. That means it’s his job to cover up crimes, run errands, assassinate rivals, and carry out all matter of sins for his bosses, the Harrigan family. Harry is as clever as he is deadly, and his only weaknesses appear to be his strained marriage and devotion to his clever teen daughter.
Where You’ve Seen Tom Hardy: Tom Hardy is a 47-year-old actor known for playing Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, Max in Mad Max: Fury Road, and the lead role in the Venom series. He’s also appeared in Peaky Blinders and The Bikeriders.
-
Helen Mirren as Maeve Harrigan
Who is Maeve Harrigan in MobLand?: Maeve Harrigan is the formidable matriarch of the Harrigan clan. Although she seems initially a little daffy, it’s soon apparent that she’s the brains behind the operation — and that husband Conrad does her bidding.
Where You’ve Seen Helen Mirren: Dame Helen Mirren has been working on stage and on screen for over six decades. You might know her for her work on groundbreaking crime drama Prime Suspect, winning an Oscar starring in The Queen, or for sexing it up in everything from Caligula to Excalibur. She’s currently also playing another Irish matriarch in Paramount+’s 1923.
-
Pierce Brosnan as Conrad Harrigan
Who is Conrad Harrigan in MobLand?: Conrad Harrigan is the ruthless leader of the Harrigan gang, having built the family empire out of nothing. Now, he likes to enjoy the trappings of English country life on an estate called “The Cotswolds.” Nevertheless, he still has great ambitions for the future of his family.
Where You’ve Seen Pierce Brosnan: Pierce Brosnan is perhaps most famous for playing James Bond in the ’90s, in films like GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies. He’s also starred in the steamy remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, Mamma Mia! and Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. You can also catch him right now in the slick Soderbergh spy thriller, Black Bag.
-
Paddy Considine as Kevin Harrigan
Who is Kevin Harrington in MobLand?: Kevin Harrington is the younger son of Maeve and Conrad. While we don’t learn much about him in early episodes, he is married to Bella and father to Eddie. He’s devoted to his family and seems to be pivotal to the Harrington family’s business.
Where You’ve Seen Paddy Considine: Paddy Considine most recently starred as King Viserys Targaryen in HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. You might also know him from In America, Hot Fuzz, or The Death of Stalin.
-
Joanne Froggatt as Jan Da Souza
Who is Jan Da Souza in MobLand?: Jan Da Souza is Harry’s wife and the mother of their daughter Gina. When we first meet her in MobLand, she is exploring group therapy options. She is very keen on the idea of couples counseling with Harry, essentially saying it’s therapy or divorce.
Where You’ve Seen Joanne Froggatt: Joanna Froggatt is best known for playing the loyal ladies maid Anna in PBS’s massive hit Downton Abbey. When she’s not appearing in the show’s spin off films, Froggatt is also working on shows like Sherwood, North Shore, and Liar.
-
Lara Pulver as Bella Harrigan
Who is Bella Harrigan in MobLand?: Bella Harrigan is Kevin’s wife. In Episode 2 of MobLand, we learn that there’s more to Bella than might initially meet the eye. She has her own powerful family with its own unique connections.
Where You’ve Seen Lara Pulver: Lara Pulver was rather famously Irene Adler to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Holmes in the hit series Sherlock. She’s also starred in Spooks, DaVinci’s Demons, and Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond.
-
Anson Boon as Eddie Harrigan
Who is Eddie Harrigan in MobLand?: Eddie Harrigan is Kevin and Bella’s only son, ergo Conrad and Maeve’s grandson. He’s a bit of a spoiled party boy and his impulsive nature gets him — and the family — in trouble in the first episode of MobLand.
Where You’ve Seen Anson Boon: Anson Boon is a 25-year-old English actor who has appeared in films like Crawl, 1917, and Widow Clicquot. His splashiest role to date, however, is probably playing Johnny Rotten in FX’s Pistol.
-
Mandeep Dhillon as Seraphina
Who is Seraphina in MobLand?: Seraphina is Conrad’s daughter from an affair and yet she’s considered part of the family. Maeve naturally doesn’t like her, but she’s still invited to key family summits. In Episode 2, it becomes more clear that she’s potentially a better asset to Conrad’s empire than either of her brothers.
Where You’ve Seen Mandeep Dhillon: Mandeep Dhillon is a British theater and television actress. She’s appeared opposite Ricky Gervais in both David Brent: Life on the Road and After Life. Although she’s worked in tons of British TV, American viewers might best recognize her from 24: Live Another Day or CSI: Vegas.
