Atlanta-based rapper Young Scooter, who famously worked with Future and Gucci Mane, died on Friday after suffering a fatal leg injury while fleeing from police in Atlanta. He was 39 years old.

Born Kenneth Edward Bailey, the “Jugg King” rapper was pronounced dead on the day of his 39th birthday at Grady Marcus Trauma Center in Atlanta after Emergency Medical Services transported him there from a location on the southeast side of the city, reported TMZ.

Lt. Andrew Smith of the Atlanta Police Department claimed Scooter sustained his leg injury when he jumped “two fences” while fleeing from authorities after officers responded to a “dispute with a weapon.”

“It was advised in the caller remarks that shots were fired and a female was dragged back into the location,” Smith said in a Saturday morning press conference, per the outlet.

“Once officers arrived, they knocked on the door, a male opened the door and immediately shut the door on the officers.”

Authorities then began “establishing a perimeter” around the home when “two males fled out of the rear of the house.”

One of the unnamed men involved returned to the house, but the other man — who is believed to be Scooter — was found by officers with a leg injury on the other side of a fence.

“Officers rendered aid and he was transported to Grady Hospital where he was pronounced deceased,” said Smith.

Smith further emphasized that the rapper’s injury was not a result of the officers locating him, but occurred during his attempt to flee.

The outlet reported that the Fulton County medical examiner’s office confirmed the leg injury was the cause of Scooter’s death.

Scooter first rose to fame after he signed to Future’s Freebandz record label in 2012.

The following year, he collaborated with Gucci Mane on the “Zone 6” hitmaker’s “Free Bricks 2” mixtape.

His 2013 mixtape, “Street Lottery,” also featured appearances from Future, Gucci Mane, Young Dolph and Chief Keef.
