Lisa Rinna has revealed that her late father, Frank Rinna, died in 2016 by assisted suicide.
The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum, 61, said on her “Let’s Not Talk About the Husband” podcast Friday with her husband, Harry Hamlin, that she avoided speaking about the topic publicly before because she was on her Bravo show and it was just “too painful at the time.”
Lisa recalled how her father — who had been battling pneumonia for the fourth time in a year — was determined to go through with the suicide, saying, “When they set their mind to this, they’re ready.”
She said she found herself in a “surreal position” because she wanted to “support” what he wanted to do.
“But, you’re going to watch your parent kill themselves, basically,” the reality star pointed out.
Lisa said she remembered Frank — who was 93 at the time — just being fed up with how he was feeling.
“He was just so anxious to go?” Hamlin, 73, asked, to which his wife replied, “Yes. … He was in pain and he was really unhappy.”
Lisa said in order for assisted suicide to be done, the individual who is dying has to give themselves the deadly pills. “You can’t administer it to somebody,” she said. “It has to be a willful act on their part.”
The former Bravo star said her father was “so mad” at one point because his pills didn’t arrive on time.
When it was finally time for Frank to ingest his pill cocktail mixed with orange juice — which Lisa said tasted “like s–t” and was “sour” — the room’s ambience was set up “nicely.”
They had “yoga-type” music playing and a death doula there to assist.
“The light was coming in, it was, like, 2 o’clock in the afternoon,” the “Harry Loves Lisa” alum recalled, “so there’s a lot of real beauty behind it.”
Lisa said, however, that she did not expect that it “doesn’t happen right away” and took 45 minutes.
“They just go to sleep, by the way, so it’s not anything gruesome,” she added before noting that the entire experience was “very peaceful.” She concluded, “It didn’t feel awful, but it felt awful.”
Lisa — whose mom, Lois Rinna, died from a stroke a few years after her father — said she still misses her parents all the time.
After Frank died, the former “Housewife” said in a sweet tribute on Instagram, “The World lost a Great Man today… Heaven got a great Angel. I love you Dad.
“What I’m realizing now is that I’m the adult. I’m taking care of my parents. You never prepare for that.”
