The Battlehawks come into the season with aspirations of repeating as XFL Conference Champions, having won in 2024 with a 7-3 record, going a perfect 5-0 at home, including a 22-8 win in St. Louis over the Roughnecks. Running back Jacob Saylors returns after leading the team in rushing in 2024 with 473 yards and five touchdowns. It will be a different quarterback handing off to him, though, as 2024 starter AJ McCarron is not currently on a team and is considering retirement.
Houston is looking forward to a fresh start, leaving their brutal 2024 campaign behind them, where they finished 1-9, dead last in the USFL Conference. Former starting quarterback Reid Sinnett has moved on from the team, leaving Nolan Henderson as the only quarterback from the 2024 season still on the roster. Leading rusher T.J. Pledger is back, looking to improve upon his 3.3 yards per carry from a season prior.
