EXCLUSIVE: If there’s any sign that your horror movie is bound to do well, look no further than the trailer traffic. In the case of New Line’s upcoming Final Destination: Bloodlines, the pic’s 24-hour trailer traffic is the second best for any horror movie at 178.7M worldwide views behind New Line’s own It which had near 200M global views. Bloodlines dropped its official trailer on Tuesday. The slasher horror franchise installment hits multiplexes on May 16. It’s the first Final Destination movies in 14 years in a series that counts already five movies that have minted in total north of $666M around the world.
The trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines was released simultaneously in 65 markets including 44 unique language versions under embargo.

There is a big deal nowadays in regards to measuring trailer traffic whether it includes or doesn’t include TikTok views which can make a trailer soar. I’m told that these WaveMetrix measurements do include TikTok, but even if you back them out, it still exceeds the 24-hour traffic for Sony’s upcoming horror movie 28 Days Later (60.2M global views from Dec. 12).
Biggest opening for a Final Destination movie goes to the fourth title in 2009 The Final Destination which opened to $27.4M stateside.
Fans have been enjoying showcasing how the new trailers have unlocked new fears including those who removed their septum rings following the first trailer and those reacting to glass falling into ice, lawnmowers, trampolines, revolving doors and glass floors.
Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein directed the movie off a script by Guy Busick & Lori Evans Taylor, and story is by Jon Watts and Busick & Taylor. The project is based on characters created by Jeffrey Reddick. Producers are Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle and Toby Emmerich. EPs are David Siegel and Warren Zide.
